Visit and discover
Reunion Island

Located in the Indian Ocean, 800 kilometres from Madagascar and 200 kilometres from Mauritius, Reunion is a tropical island with the status of a French department. Known as the "Intense Island", Reunion has much to offer its visitors.

With its geographical diversity, its breathtaking landscapes, the diversity of its climates and its intermingling cultures, Reunion is a real jewel, a metis land which makes it a society marked by the values of tolerance, peace and a model of living together, rich in cultures and traditions.

If there is no doubt that you will be seduced by the welcome, kindness and friendliness of the Reunionese, you will also be amazed by the geography and the exceptional natural heritage of Reunion. Between its beaches and lagoons in the west, its wild nature in the east and south, its unusual cirques (Mafate, Ciloas and Salazie), its pitons and ramparts classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, not forgetting its active volcano, Piton de la Fournaise, Reunion can boast spectacular panoramas which make it such an "intense" and unique island in the world.

The tropical island also enjoys ideal climatic conditions, it is neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter and significant temperature differences can be observed between the coast and the upper reaches of the island, which gives Reunion numerous micro-climates. Thanks to the diversity of its landscapes and its atypical geography, Reunion offers a rich catalogue of magnificent excursions, exotic hikes and exciting sports activities for thrill-seekers. Walks in the volcano enclosure, hikes in the heart of the island's most beautiful natural sites, flights over the island in a helicopter, paraglider or microlight aircraft, canyoning, rafting, ATV or mountain biking in the lush forests, exploration of lava tunnels, sea excursions to meet whales and dolphins or visits to museums and Creole huts... as you will have understood, Reunion Island offers a multitude of unmissable activities in exceptional surroundings.

Reunion Island will surprise you. Its heritage and its unique Reunionese culture make it an island rich in diversity and authenticity. Its different cultures that live side by side in harmony, its Creole architecture, its gastronomy, its music, its dances and its traditions will lead you to where its heart beats. One thing is certain, this is a trip that will touch you and leave you with experiences and memories that you will always remember.

Come and enjoy the gentle Creole way of life that the island has preserved and treat yourself to an unforgettable experience on the "intense" island of Reunion.

Good plans to discover
the west of the island near the villa
Eco-responsible workshops
on the beach

Shanta Beach Villa overlooks one of the most unspoilt beaches in the west; a historic nesting place for sea turtles. This beach therefore benefits from special attention and extensive preservation and protection actions in favour of marine turtles.

If, during your stay, you wish to take action in favour of our biodiversity, it will not take you more than a few steps from the villa to reach the beach and take part in the workshops proposed by the CEDTM (Center for the Study and Discovery of Marine Turtles) which aim to maintain the nesting beaches and thus raise public awareness of the protection of our environment.

All-in-one excursions
a stone's throw from the villa

A bucolic stroll along the seashore, between small creeks and large ravines, workshops on planting plant species essential for marine turtles, a visit to Kelonia (the marine turtle observatory), a whole programme that will leave you with wonderful memories of your stay.

Quick access to a
of the most beautiful lagoons on the island

The villa is only 5 minutes drive from the seaside resort of La Saline and more precisely from the small beach of Trou d'Eau. This small beach located in the south of Saine-les-Bains, is very popular and the atmosphere is rather family and relaxing. The site is magnificent, the lagoon is ideal for swimming and even more so for discovery and leisure activities such as snorkelling, canoeing, paddle-boarding, windsurfing... what a pleasure!

Kelonia, regional museum
and marine turtle observatory

From the villa, you will only need a few minutes to discover Kélonia (the sea turtle observatory), a genuine environmental awareness centre on the theme of sea turtles, with 1500 m3 of sea water tanks, educational and scientific premises and 1500 m2 of outdoor space.

Paragliding activities,
promise of thrills

If you are an outdoor and nature lover, you will not be able to resist the temptation to discover Reunion from the sky. Several paragliding clubs located near the villa, in the commune of Saint Leu, will offer you the possibility to live this exceptional experience.

A lot of thrills guaranteed with a take-off in the heights of Colimaçons and a soft landing on the white sandy beach, a few meters from the ocean.

The regional museum
Stella Matutina

If you are interested in the history of Reunion, if you wish to know more about the men and women who have shaped the rich history of our island over the years, a visit to the Stella Matutina museum should be an essential stopover during your stay. Housed in a former sugar factory, Stella Matutina will reveal all the secrets of sugar cane and rum production.

CULTURAL WALK IN THE COOL
DES HAUTS DE TROIS-BASSINS
